Hello Christina. I was piloting the wing scout OH6 the day Henry and Cpt. Philip Sharp were shot down. Needless to say, that was a very traumatic day for me, and of course our entire troop. I knew Henry well, and for sure all the scout pilots and our observers were super tight...bonds were forged that never can be broken, we went out every day knowing we were going to be shot at, so you can imagine how close we all became. We flew together many times and Henry was, indeed, one of our very best. I think of him and Cpt Sharp often with great fondness and camaraderie...

Thank you, for your service. I did not serve, however, I lost my Uncle, Henry D. Adkins, on May 23, 1971. He was twenty years old. I am hoping, and praying, that one of you may have known my uncle... or served with him. He has five brothers, and one sister, surviving. Nieces and nephews too numerous to count. I want to reach out... and bring his memory alive... I want something tangible to remember him by. My daughters are now 10 and 8... and I want them to remember. I need them to. If you knew Henry "Dale" Adkins... PLEASE, contact me. He would have gone by Dale...
Again, I thank you... for ALL of your sacrifices... and know, from the bottom of my heart, my family LOVES each of you.

I salute you guys. We were also in Vinh Long with you guys keeping you safe while you were in your bunks we walked the perimeters of the compound with our dogs. I was there for the Tet Offensive with the 212th MP Company. We swept the area around the compound for a mile then took in the 6 VC POWs and locked them up in the dog kennels. We even helped interigate them with ARVN Intelligence. You guys were our heroes because we were overrun on the first night of Tet and it seemed like 300 VC took over the airfield. Just want to say thanks and because of you I can write this.

Hello All, Friend of mine found this site for me.I must say it is a great one and thanks to those that have provided it.I served in C troop roughly from 8/68-4/70 and 1/71-1/72.I say roughly because my memory has been diminished from three aneurysms and the surgery following.I was a gunner on my first tour and wound up maintenance my second tour.
Some possible names I think I remember are:Robert Holbrook(Montana?)...Bud Holmes(Tenn.)...Erwin Marantz aka Bullfrog(New Orleans)...if I think of others I will post.
Remember when we got the Generals cook and had Lobster for at least a week instead of that nasty roast beef? And troop parties sure made the time a little easier to handle.
Peace my brothers...and Gods love to all...

I was a Phung Hoang Advisor with MACV Team 68, Vinh Long, Chau Thanh District 1970/71. The 7/1 flew our Cav packages and Medevac's (then we had VN pilots; that's another story). One 7/1 pilot had a call sign of Cowboy 88 or something like that and he would come into a hot LZ when I called because he knew I was in trouble and wouldn't make me hump our wounded VN troops a couple of clicks. I'll never forget his smile, because that's all I could see! I just wanted you to know we appreciated you guys. I see you are having your reunion in Ft Worth and I live in Trophy Club. Might try to crash your party! Thanks for all your good work!
